How to get the best out of your candle...
Here are a few simple steps to follow when burning a Peli&Co handpoured soy candle...
When using your candle for the first time, light it for approximately 3-4 hours - enough time that the pool of wax around the wick reaches the edge of the container. Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
Always trim your wick to 5mm before lighting. Trimming the wick will help your candle to burn evenly and longer. It will also eliminate smoking and minimise soot forming on the container.
Handy tip: If your candle doesn’t perform as well as you thought, try popping it in another spot in your home. It can be as simple as drafts, air-conditioning or even wood fire heaters that can affect the amount of scent your candle gives off! It’s also advisable to keep your candle away from direct sunlight or heat sources as this can cause your candle to lose scent and discolour the wax.
Imperfections in your soy wax candle:
Changes in temperature can affect soy candles causing them to sweat and release excess oil. This is easily wiped with a piece of paper towel - it will not affect the burn or scent of your candle.
Frosting on the top of your candle and at the sides of your jar is a natural characteristic of soy wax. It does not affect the scent or burning of your candle.
And yes it’s common sense but never leave a burning candle unattended and be sure to keep them out of reach of children and pets. Always follow the warning label instructions on the bottom of your candle.
Following these directions will help to maximise the life of your candle – which is what we’re after, a lovely candle that lasts😊
Please remember that no candle will ever be exactly the same as we handmake and handpour them all individually. Made just for you with love!
